SALT LAMPS

How does a salt lamp work?
Himalayan salt lamps absorb moisture from the air around it that picks up dust, allergens, bacteria & pollen from the air. Then, when the salt lamp is heated slightly, it then releases clean purified air and also expels negatve ions which help with your respitory system, anxiety, mood, sleep, stress and the list goes on.

Does a Himalayan Tea Light holder do the same thing as a Himalayan salt lamp?
Yes! This is because Himalayan Salt needs a heat source in order to release negative ions so whether this is coming from a globe or a tealight candle they present the same properties.

What size salt lamp should I buy for my room?
Its all about how much is going on in that room, what’s in the room? A lot of electronics? How many people share the airspace?

With more people sharing the air space and the more TVs, computers, phones and devices in the room then consider you may need a larger lamp or even a few little ones such as having 2 small salt lamps on either side of your bed. In saying so, one salt lamp is better then none.

(Guide only)
2-4kg lamp – A study, babies room or small treatment room
4-6kg lamp – A small bedroom or standard office
6-8kg lamp – medium size bedroom or a small living area
10-12kg lamp – An average sized living area or large bedroom
12-16kg lamp – A medium sized entertainment area or meeting room
16-20kg lamp – An average sized open plan office
20-25kg lamp – A large living area or a small to medium cafe or restaurant
25-30kg lamp -A very large open plan home or office

30+kg – large open space or studio

How long do I leave my Himalayan Salt lamp on for?
You receive the benefits when the salt lamp is turned on therefore it is advisable to have your Salt Lamp on as often as possible whilst home.

Like all electronics, it is not advisable to leave it on unattended when someone is not home. So When you get home from work, school or wherever it may be, turn on all your Himalayan Salt Lamps to get yourself ready to wind down and then switch off just as you jump into bed to sleep.

If I turn my salt lamp off will it melt?
Depending on how long it is switched off for, as himalayan Salt Lamps absorb moisture from the air around it. So when they are turned off they may ‘cry’ depending if the weather is quite humid inside the home. To prevent having a sad lamp when it is turned off, for instance you are going away on holiday then unplug and place a plastic bag over it and tuck under base of lamp to stop the moisture from getting to it. If it is dry weather and your lamps aren’t crying, then they are fine to be turned off and left as normal.

My salt lamp is leaking pools of water?
If your Himalayan salt lamp is leaking water, this really is a normal occurrence. It’s also much more likely to happen in places with high humidity.
When your salt lamp is not turned on there is no heat source to evaporate the moisture. The moisture in the air is attracted to the surface of the salt lamp and it can cause pools of water to form at the base of the lamp. Make sure you are keeping your lamp switched on as much as possible. Be sure to place your lamp on a dish or saucer if you are worried about the furniture underneath.

My salt lamp is turned on but it’s still crying?
When there is high humidity, salt lamps can still cry (condensate) a little bit while turned on. If this happens, you just need to pat your lamp dry with a dry cloth, and try and keep it on a little longer then normal.

Does it matter what colour my salt lamp is?
No two salt lamps are the same. All of the colours of Himalayan Mineral Crystal Salt contain minerals and offer the same health benefits. The darker the red and orange colours, the more of the Iron mineral is present within the crystal. All Himalayan Salt Lamps/tealights release negative ions, This occurs regardless of what colour the lamp is.

Are your Himalayan products genuine?
Yes! Our Himalayan salt products are made from genuine Himalayan salt crystals which come from the Khewra Salt mines in Pakistan at the base of the Himalayan mountain range. To tell if your Himalayan salt lamps are real, you can tell this by the moisture on your salt lamp. Real ones do hold moisture which you can feel, taste, and see as the salt sometimes gathers at the bottom of your lamp or can easily be chipped off by using a knife.

Do USB LED lamps produce negative ions?
No. USB Lamps have a LED light bulb in them therefore LED does not produce enough heat. It is the heat from a Light Bulb which heats the salt which then produces negative ions to purify the air.

So, USB lamps are more for bringing a calming presence to your work space, a great Night light for childrens rooms and to improve your mood and concentration.
If you want a Salt Lamp to purify the air, you need a Lamp with an electrical cord and a 15 watt globe.

SALT PRODUCTS

How often do I use my salt inhaler?
Depending on the severity of your condition the recommended dosage is 3 times a day for 5 minutes, taking a deep breath to inhale the salt then breathing out into the air around you. It is perfectly safe for all ages and is a natural alternative to medicated inhalers. Think of it as though you are breathing fresh salt air from the beach except this is pure natural Himalayan salt.

Are Himalayan Salt products safe for pregnancy, babies and kids?
Yes Definitely! These are all natural products so safe for everyone.

SELENITE

What is the difference between a salt lamp and Selenite lamp?
When switched on the Himalayan salt lamp produces negative ions which helps to purify the air, reduce stress, helps with sleep, anxiety, mood and respitory problems. Where as your selenite, whether it’s a tower or lamp the properties are still the same in which selenite is renowned for their cleansing and healing abilities such as cleansing negative energy and for clarity of the mind, it brings a beautiful calmness to its surroundings.

My salt lamp/Selenite Lamp doesn’t sit flat on my bench?
By carefully turning your lamp over and looking at the bottom , there is a line discretely carved in the bottom of the lamp. This allows you to put the power cord through it easily. Make sure the cord and globe are inserted enough for it sit flat.

If you have tried that and it still isn’t sitting flat, you may need an electrical cord that doesn’t have the flat bottom. We stock replacement parts if needed in this situation also. Just click Shop > Replacement Parts > Cords and read to see which we would recommended for which size lamps.

LIGHT GLOBES & CORDS

Why has my light bulb blown?
If they are moved suddenly or are exposed to vibration they are more likely to blow. High humidity can also cause bulbs to blow.

If you have bulbs blowing regularly, here are some things to take into consideration –

• Make sure the globe is screwed on firmly enough.
• Is the globe touching the inside surface of the lamp.
• Has the salt lamp been bumped or moved.
• There is a large current drawing appliance on the same circuit that is turned on/off and there is a momentary power spike.
• There is excessive ‘micro vibration’ such as a TV close by.
• If the lamp has been turned off and it has ‘cried’ whilst its been turned off and the salt may have cried onto the bulb which will cause it to blow.
